BONNAROO MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
The word Bonnaroo, popularized by New Orleans R&B giant Dr. John with his 1974 album Desitively Bonnaroo, is a Cajun slang word meaning "a really good time” and an apt name for the four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee 60 miles southeast of Nashville every June. Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of. In addition to dozens of epic performances, the festival's 100-acre entertainment village buzzes around the clock with attractions and activities including a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village. What was originally an operational farm belonging to Sam McAllister, the choice spot in view of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is now a permanent home to Bonnaroo.  In early 2007, festival producers purchased the bulk of the acres that comprised McAllister’s farm.  Elevated on Tennessee’s Highland Rim, the land includes a distant view of Monteagle Mountain and the front range of the Cumberland Plateau. This idyllic spot in the highlands of Tennessee offers concertgoers a sense of musical and geographical convergence.
